Bulletin 44.5: To Tweet or not to Tweet

Hey everyone,

Here's the midmonth bulletin for January

*Twitterific

*Present Happenings
*Ephemeral Happenings

Twitterific

To tweet or not to tweet. Not sure how you feel about it. But if you do, make sure DC PAL's one of your followers. Either send a DM or follow DC PAL's twitter account. And whether you do or you don't, you mind find this article interesting, an NPR piece about how there appear to be regional accents on Twitter.

I recently set up a Twitter account for the nonprofit arts org I work for, and just make sure that if you do set one up (for business or personal use), you do so intentionally and not just for the sake of it. Be thoughtful not just about whom you follow, but who follows you. It might be social media, but I still believe that the quality of associated tweeters trumps the quantity. For sure, strike a balance, but just be mindful of which side of the fence you err towards.

So if you've got something happening over the horizon, go ahead and message me, send me the FB event page, if there is one. As you can see, after a bit of a break, the Twitter account is back in full gear [along with this archive/blog], and is just another piece of how DC PAL puts the work that you all do, out on the social media map.

And if you know of performer-types in the DMV that would be interested in joining this humble group, definitely send them an invite with a li'l message explaining exactly what the group does for DC PALs.

Until next time,

Bulletin 44: "Celebrate what you want to see more of."

Hey there,

It's a new year (and that was a quote from Tom Peters)!! With that, if you don't already have a relationship with those in public office, I strongly encourage you to contact your representatives, old or new, just to say happy new year, and make your presence known.

Now, more than ever, it's crucial for the arts to be a part of the conversation, every conversation, ANY conversation. And it's easier to do that if we have established relationships with our legislators, so that we can be involved and engaged from the start, and not just after the fact. So take 10 minutes sometime in the next week to send an email or two and introduce yourself. Don't know where to start, use AFTA's Arts Action Center.

Here's what's going on this month:

*APAP | NYC
*EALS Benefit Reception
*The Arts of Taxes

*Present Happenings
*Ephemeral Happenings
*Future Happenings
