Hey there,
That was an Albert Camus quote. Was looking for a quick independence day related one, and this one…well, it just struck a chord. It reminded me of what can be both the greatest challenge and the greatest reward, with the arts, whether you're participating on stage or off. It challenges us as artists and audience to be better, it helps us figure out what that means for each of us, and enables us to actualize that to the best of our ability.
With that, I constantly wonder how DC PAL could be better, and am looking at ways to continue to implement effective, consistent, and succinct communication about everything that's happening with DC PALs, whether on FB, Twitter, or other social media tool. Anyway, just wanted to share. Here's what's going on this month.

DC PALs and Lists on Twitter
So, speaking of better using social media resources, I've added several lists to those existing. I know not everyone's on Twitter, so if you're not, the rest of the bulletin is for you. But if you are, check 'em out and mention @DC_PAL in a tweet, to add you to the appropriate lists. Existing lists included DCArts, MDarts, VAarts, dance, music, theatre, etc. New lists added are Actors, Musicians, Dancers, Techies, etc. I hope this continues to grow as a resource for you to be able to follow what's relevant to you, and to explore other areas and disciplines which might be of interest. So here's the DC PALs list, to start you off (if you haven't checked it out already).

Smithsonian Folklife Festival
"The Festival is held outdoors on the National Mall in Washington, D.C., between the Smithsonian museums. There is no admission charge."
So has you might already know, this year's festival started this past week and ends next weekend. The link below is the 2011 Festival Schedule:

2011 Capital Fringe Festival
"Capital Fringe Festival is the only major unjuried, self-producing, open-access Festival in the Washington, DC area and occurs in July each year. The Fringe Festival provides all artists, whether new or established, a venue to express and develop their talents and artistic visions in total freedom."
The July bulletins are virtually Capital Fringe specials due to the number of DC PALs involved in a number of productions. With so much to choose from, you'll probably find me chilling under the tent, rolling a d10 to figure out what to see next. And, yes, I did just reference a d10.

Have an event for July that's not listed? It's not too late. The midmonth bulletin goes out on the 16th or so, so just shoot me a message before then.
Also, thanks for those that include the cast and production team on their FB event pages and website. It helps me check to see if their our other DC PALs involved, beyond those who invited or messaged me about their event
Hope everyone's enjoying the long weekend. Until next time,
JR
